Breathe…. Even as you say it, the word exhales through your body and out. Breathe…. Beautiful word.
Lately, this word has resonated with me more than it ever has. In so many ways. Most of us spend so much time busily doing. We hunker down and, some of us (moi), would take a little longer to come up for air. I used to “hold” my breath until after I’ve finished working. Every so often, I noticed that I wasn’t even breathing at all!
Being a parent has dramatically changed my breathing patterns. Even when the day is so jam packed and I am up to my eyeballs in toys, books, diapers, cleaning, playtime, activities, learning, working, you name it; I take time out to listen and to be present. It’s one of the most important things I must do. I need to remind myself that living now is what I need to do for myself and most importantly for my child.
In this most recent shoot with a family, I was very inspired to get into the busy to explore and capture the calm. Those gorgeous gaps where we all stop to take a moment.
Such an exquisite family and with a four month old and an almost 3 year old, I noticed, you really do need to work at finding, no, making, those “quiet” spaces for yourself and for your babies to just be. You owe it to you and your family to choose to LIVE. You must breathe.
(Thank you Crystal, Lucas, and little munchkins for letting me into the heart of your home to laugh, play, and share in a little bit of your everyday! Let’s do it again sometime!)
