They Be Good People – Truth

This feels a bit like a confessional.  It’s been several months since my last blog post, so, this is going to be one with lots to show you.

Here goes….

Every now and then you get to meet some pretty amazing people.  Lucky me, I got to go even one step further and photograph some of them!

I am always looking for this thing called truth.  In everyday life and, definitely, in my photography.  It is where the story lives.  It’s the thing I am always looking for in people because they provide the example for me on how to live my best life.  I usually get so much out of the people from every session I do, really.  They are all like life classes.  Then, if that weren’t enough, there are those extra special ones.

These are the people that know and live their truth.  I call it a privilege because when I do get to be in their presence, share their space, or, even a bit of their lives; I am in a bit of a personal dreamland.  I fall into the zone of quiet, but deliberate, photographer just soaking in a person’s way of being and truly enjoying my time spent with them.

They are just so easy to be around.  They are usually the type of people who say more in silence than most of us are able to verbally.  At the same time, they are also the same people who do not mince words, why waste valuable time for that?  A beautiful balance.

The best part for the session is they don’t even need to try  Which, in turn, means I do not need to ask them to do too much other than to have fun (for kids, oftentimes, the most authentic of us all, it usually helps with bubbles or their cat…), or, to go to the place that brings on calm (I usually say, “go far away.  I’m not here”).  In some cases, all I need to do is say, “okay, go!”  The response I get back is, oftentimes, like magic: they are their most authentic self; and then snap, snap, snap – “I got it!  Awesome!”

A little bit of truth for us all:

Then, there is the actual teacher.  She sees right through you.  It’s her job to do it and it is her job to show you how you can live your truth day after day.  She is a life coach (http://www.christinesirett.com) and she is always speaking the truth (it’s painful at first), her truth, and expecting you to live your truth.  I love this woman.  I am thankful for her.
