I’m a Vancouver-based portrait photographer creating long-form, observational portraiture.
I’m drawn to people—musicians, artists, anyone really—where there’s something a bit quieter happening beneath the surface. Most of my work comes from spending time together rather than trying to manufacture something quickly.
The process is pretty simple and intuitive. I’m paying attention, responding, and holding space for something unforced to emerge. I’ll usually start by shaping the space a bit—where we are, how the light feels—and then it becomes a bit of a dance. I guide where needed, but I’m also adjusting as we go, trying not to over-direct so something more natural can come through. It’s less about performance and more about presence—I’m looking for what exists in the in-between.
Connection is a big part of it. I need to feel something for the work to land, and I think the same is true on the other side. When that’s there, the process becomes collaborative, fluid, honest, and often unexpectedly playful.
Alongside this, I take on editorial and commercial assignments, bringing the same attention to light, composition, and a sense of honesty to each project.
I’ve spent over 14 years working professionally with clients including CBC Vancouver, Intracorp Homes, Prenuvo, UBC’s Trek Magazine, and Langara College.
More recently, I’ve been focusing on longer-form portrait work with musicians and artists—projects that allow for more time, more presence, and a bit more depth.
