Creative – Business Branding Photography
Entrepreneur, public speaker, motivational coach and founder of Hungry for Happiness, Vancouver’s Samantha Skelly, a society devoted to helping those with eating disorders and body perception issues, approached me to create some visually moving photographs for the society’s website launch, social media, and marketing.
This time around we had a few creative meetings where I presented my story ideas and storyboards after chatting about her mission and talking about where she was presently at with her business. Most importantly, I challenged her to tell me where she was looking to go with her business. From these conversations, I came up with the idea of rising above a fog. She is a force to be reckoned with. A phoenix that continually rises up no matter what brings her down. This was an absolutely necessary part of the creative. I believe this is a business that should be felt. No matter how much you talk about it, every person needs to feel connected or identify with it.
From that, there needed to be a harmonious combination of peace, control, intensity, most importantly love. This project was one that came together like a dream. The ideas just flowed and the results I felt were spot on.
We were able to get a gown on loan from a local bridal designer. Sam had a fitting and a hair and makeup consult all before shoot day and heading over to Deer Lake Park for our pre-dawn session. We could not have picked a better morning.
The driving theme of the session and photographs was about rising above a cloud: above fear, uncertainty, and stagnation. The morning was fatefully foggy. This is the business branding photography for “…and I Rise.”
